Our Rohe Moana
A contemporary rohe moana of Patuharakeke was gazetted in May 2009 under the Kaimoana Fisheries Regulations 1998 when Patuharakeke Rohe Moana Committee, a sub-committee of the PTB was formed (Figure below). Patuharakeke holds the authority to issue kai permits within our gazetted rohe moana. However, over a century of poor management by successive government entities has resulted in an immense decline in marine taonga species.
